Homemade Sugar Scrub
Winter air has been especially hard on skin this year, so I made a scrub to gently exfoliate and gives skin back the moisture lost in the bitter North winds. Use this recipe to make one gift, or several stocking stuffers. Most of the supplies you probably already have in your kitchen, so the total cost for this project came out to about $10
Time: 15 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
You Will Need:
- 1/3 cup olive oil, though you could use coconut oil, grapeseed oil, etc.
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil (you can find this at your local pharmacy)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essential oil or vanilla essence
- Jars (I used 4 oz jars to make a total of three gifts)
- Ribbon, color of your choice (optional)
- Sharpie, color of your choice (optional)
Directions:
- Dump all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
- Savor the scent.
- Put equal portions if the scrub into each jar, or a single jar. Be sure to tightly close the lid- nothing like dripped oil over your things, but first, inhale that brown sugar-y aroma. Ahh…
- Cut a section of ribbon, and tie the cut section festively around the jar, if you like that sort of thing. Write or draw on the lid with the Sharpie however you choose. Give to your friends, or hog all to yourself. But please don’t eat it, because not all that smells good tastes good.
To use, rub on your skin gently to exfoliate, and rise with cool water.
